It’s my job to bring some paintings back to life. The initial shot of this piece by Dana Schutz was dark and dreary. The company asked me to capture the painting’s drama and intensity. It was especially important to properly represent the color as it was going to be used for a double page spread. A gallery shot with a concrete floor was also requested which ended up being used in the catalog and the website.
